Tony Robbins is always talking about the three keys that can enable you to achieve whatever it is you want. “The first step is to zero in on precisely what you want to do. Where your focus goes, your energy flows,” says Robbins.

My guess for 99%+ in our profession, the number one objective is to grow our practice. The key word above is “precisely”. So, how much do you want to grow? 5, 10, 100 more visits? The key here is seeing exactly what you want in your mind’s eye first. It has to happen here first.

In the book, The Science of Getting Rich, Wallace Wattles says, “Man can form things in his thought, and by impressing his thought upon upon formless substance can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.”Β  Robbins then says, “When you put your entire focus on something that really matters to you, when you can’t stop thinking about it every day, this intense focus unleashes a burning desire that can help you obtain what might otherwise be out of reach.”

Once again, If you as a chiropractor truly understand the power you have in your hands to change people’s lives, a burning desire will “well up within” to change people’s lives, to make a difference…every day!

Finally and if you set your game upas a result of these first two steps, you’ll want to “take massive action.” Unfortunately, this is where most problems creep in. Most doctors have the intense desire and do take massive action. Unfortunately, it’s just not the right action. Then, when the “incorrect” action doesn’t produce the results they expect, frustration and depression sets in and we all know where that ends up.

Growing up, I wanted to be a professional baseball player more than anything in the world. I could see it in my mind’s eye. I had the burning desire to do it and would practice more than anyone I knew. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a coach/teacher to teach me the right steps to take to get the results that I needed to get to the “bigs”. Obviously, my creator had already decided that he needed me to be a chiropractor more than a baseball player. Yes, I’ve accepted my fate even though I still wait by the phone on draft day!

The key is massive and correct action…action that will produce the results you desire
When I first began my associateship, I told my mentor, “I don’t know how you see so many people…but I will do exactly what you say, even if I don’t really understand it.” I copied him exactly, even down to his “Jersey twang” during his orientations. Doing it this way, I was able to reach my goal of 1,000 patient visits within the first year of practice. I knew exactly what I wanted, I wanted it in the worst way, and I took massive and correct action.

Of course, you have different goals and desires than I have. Therefore it is imperative that you find the “right” coach that has accomplished what you want and can show/teach you how to do it. By studying these role models, you can literally learn in a week what might otherwise take you a decade. It’s called “modeling” and it’s exactly what I did in order to learn 20 years of experience in two. The questions to ask yourself going forward are simple…
1. What do I really want to happen in my practice?
2. How badly do I want it?
3. What actions am I going to take to accomplish this?
